Summer

loose fitting daisies

sit on the soil

by the stonewashed rocks

in the terracota vase

Like skin on orange,

a fragrant space

held between hands to mouth to face

can't go outside alone

the daisies are dry

In the summer they stay inside

play blackjack alone

hot, familiar, hands

Searching

for foreign sand.
